What does RTLO
do?
The Right to Life of Owensboro is an organization that is
dedicated to the protection of life from the moment of conception
until natural death. We work diligently to preserve innocent
life in the womb through education and assistance to women
and men who find themselves involved in an unexpected pregnancy.
Our goal is for the baby to realize his or her God-given right
to Life. As a part of a network of other pro-life organizations,
we help mothers have their babies and give them the support
they need to make the life affirming decision to either keep
their child or to find an adoptive home. Some of the ways
that we accomplish this are:
• Radio spots advertising Pregnancy Care Centers
• Pro-life billboards
• Annual Autumn Banquet featuring a pro-life speaker
• Walk for Life (summer)
• Golf Scramble (summer)
• Chili Supper (spring)
• March for Life (January)
• Office hours M – F which provide access to educational
books, videos, and brochures
Where are you located?
Our address is 1115 Tamarack
Road - Suite 200 and we are located across from Texas Gas and
next to the Optic Shop.
What are your
office hours?
Currently our office hours are Monday – Friday, 8:00 am through
2:00 pm. With the scheduling of more volunteers,
we hope to have the office open until 5:00 pm.
What if I need
help at a time when your office is not open?
Our answering machine currently gives the toll free hotline
number for Opportunities for Life (1-800-822-5824). This hotline
is answered 24 hours a day and gives callers someone to talk
to concerning their immediate needs.

I think I’m
pregnant, what can I do?
Give us a call at (270) 685-4922 and we would be happy to
give you as much information as you need to make this important
decision. First you will want to determine if you are definitely
pregnant. After that we can guide you in following the next
steps according to your individual needs. We offer a listening
ear and support during this time in your life. We have a long
list of resources to help you in any way possible whether
you choose to keep your baby or want to find an adoptive home.
There are pregnancy care centers if you need to make living
arrangements and agencies to support a decision for adoption
placement. The choices are yours but we will assist you in
any way that we can.
When does life
begin?
Life begins at conception – when the father’s
sperm joins with your fertile egg. Even before you know or
suspect that you are pregnant, your child is developing inside
you. Did you know that your baby’s heart starts beating
only 18 days after conception? And that your baby has a brain,
eyes, ears, mouth and more at 35 days?
My parents (husband/boyfriend)
want me to get an abortion, what can I do?
First and foremost, don’t make a hasty decision. What
you decide now will affect the rest of your life. You have
time so inform yourself about the baby developing inside you.
Talk to us or one of our counseling resources to find out
as much as you can. You have the time necessary to make a
good choice, so don’t rush! There are caring people
just waiting to give you a hand. Together we can make this
process less difficult. We can help you inform the other people
in your life so that, they too, know everything necessary
to make or support the right decision.
How can I find
out more about placing my child for adoption?
Give us a call and we would be happy to answer any question
that you might have. We work with organizations that can offer
you a wide variety of adoption options whether your preference
is for an open or closed adoption.
Does the birth
control pill cause abortions?
Yes, by making the environment in your womb hostile to implantation.
Since the birth control pill is not 100% effective, there
will always be a certain amount of pregnancies that result
even though the mother is using the Pill. After conception,
the baby travels to the uterus and attempts to implant into
the uterine wall to continue growing. However, if the uterine
wall is made too thin (a documented effect of the Pill) the
baby is prevented from attaching and so is expelled. This
abortifacient effect is documented in the literature of all
birth control pills by the manufacturer as well as in the
Physicians Desk Reference.
What kind of materials
do you have? Can I check out books or videos?
We offer many books and video on a variety of pro-life topics
including fetal development as well as abortion facts and
statistics. These are available for checkout for the period
of two weeks. There is a limit of two books and one video
per person. We also have many brochures available with a wide
range of information. These are given out free of charge.
There is also a wealth of information contained in our extensive
files which have been kept current for the past 30 years.
Yard signs, bumper stickers, and pro-life pins are also available
for sale.
Is there a charge
for the brochures you have?
No, we offer a wide range of brochures free of charge in addition
to our library of books and videos which are available to
be checked out.
Do you endorse
political candidates?
The Right to Life of Owensboro is a 501(c) 4 organization
and therefore does not endorse candidates for political office.
We can, however, report on the endorsements of the KY Right
to Life Political Action Committee (PAC). Our status does
allow us to report on certain matters such as pro-life bills
being considered by governing bodies as well as working to
help these bills to become law.
How can I find
out who to vote for?
As a part of the Kentucky Right to Life, we can share the
endorsements that their Political Action Committee (PAC) has
made. Simply call or come by our office and we will be glad
to give you this information so that you can make pro-life
voting decisions.
