Virginia Corley
Tuesday Volunteer
Virginia has been active in the Pro-life movement since March of 1973 when, after the Roe v Wade decision,
citizens from the Owensboro area came together out of concern for the lives of the unborn. By October of
1973 Right to Life of Owensboro had been incorporated and became an active group seeking defense for the
defenseless. For sixteen years, the organization was located in Virginia's dining room where she began a
collection of informational files that date back to the very beginning of the Pro-life movement.
She has also served as a past president as well as a delegate to KY Right to Life. For many years, Virginia
chaired the annual Walk for Life as well. For three years, Virginia volunteered at the local Birth Right in
addition to her work with Right to Life of Owensboro. She has been the 'lady with the answers' for all of
these years and continues to keep our extensive informational files here at the office in addition to
keeping up with our stock of brochures, pamphlets, books, and videos. Her vast knowledge gives us all a
source for any questions that we may have. She has been an invaluable asset to our organization and has
spoken at local schools on the topic of life. Virginia serves as our Wednesday morning volunteer but she
devotes much more time to research and various other projects related to life.
Virginia and her husband, Russell, have 7 living children, 25 grandchildren and 1 great-grand child. They
live in Owensboro.
